India’s m-cap of sports technology industry is set to almost double in the next four years from Rs 26,700 crore in FY24 to Rs 49,500 crore by 2029, a report by the Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports (FIFS) developed in partnership with Deloitte said. The report said the industry is expected to growth at a CAGR of 13 percent in the next few years. The report titled 'Beyond the Field: India’s Sports Tech Revolution’ said the Indian fantasy sports industry, which is a part of the fan engagement sub-sector, is the biggest contributor to the sports tech industry in the country with revenue touching Rs 9,100 crore in FY24. However, the changes in the goods and services tax laws have complicated the situation for the fantasy sports industry. The industry looks set for a de-growth of 10 percent in 2025 and a reduced CAGR of 7 percent between FY24 and FY29. Earlier, the industry was projected to have a 30 percent CAGR between FY22 and FY27, the report pointed out.

JioStar, a joint venture between Reliance Industries, Disney, and Bodhi Tree, is undergoing a major expansion and rebranding of its sports broadcasting network in preparation for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The company plans to launch multiple regional sports channels in both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) formats, according to a report by The Economic Times. As part of this rebranding initiative, the Sports18 name will be phased out and replaced with Star Sports. Five existing Sports18 channels will undergo the rebranding, strengthening Star Sports' position as the leading sports network in the country. The channel formerly known as Sports18 1 will be renamed Star Sports 2 Hindi. Similarly, Sports18 2 will become Star Sports 2 Telugu, while Sports18 3 will transition to Star Sports 2 Tamil.   Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has admitted that he does not allow his son to head soccer balls. Heading has become a hot topic in the sport in recent years as more research is conducted on the issue. The United States Soccer Federation has   banned children   under the age of 11 from heading soccer balls. Youth players from 11 to 12 can also only use their heads up to 20 times a week during practices. There are, however, no limits to heading in official games among youngsters in this specific age group. In England, where Varane now resides, there are currently  ongoing tests  regarding the issue. Officials in the European nation are in year two of a trial to ban players under 12 from heading.   American women’s professional   football (soccer)   league that began play in 2013. The first women’s professional league in the   United States , the Women’s United Soccer Association, debuted in 2001; this   iteration   folded after three seasons and was succeeded by Women’s Professional Soccer from 2007 to 12. The NWSL debuted in 2012. The league, which played its first game on April 13, 2013, consisted of eight teams.
